Wessex Weddings was set up only a few years ago by Paul Quayle and John Burton. Two professional photographers who had been working independently as photographers for many years.John retired in September 2010 to travel the world. Paul has continued as he is too young to retire and because he is the head of a successful business that has grown rapidly through word of mouth and providing exceptional value for money. Wessex Weddings has expanded beyond the traditional heartland of the Somerset/Dorset/ Wiltshire borders.Paul has put together a small team of professional photographers that he now works with to continue to provide a two photographer coverage of every wedding. Whether your wedding is in Hampshire or Somerset, first and foremost the essence of Wessex Weddings is to provide quality photography.
Paul Quayle (owner) Somerset/ Dorset/ Wiltshire Photographer Paul was born in Liverpool, and attended the same schools as John Lennon. After graduating from University of Reading in 1985 with a degree in Human Geography Paul wanted to actually experience first-hand the world he had studied. He has always had a love for travelling and a passion for photography and he combined these with a sense of adventure. After 18 months in Australia, where he printed film in a pro photo-lab, Hiroshima, Japan became his home and photo base for ten years. He has travelled to over fifty countries as a photographer and has photographed Muhammad Ali and the Dalai Lama amongst others. He is a “people” photographer, capturing the decisive moments in photo story features that have been published throughout the world. Most people reading this page have unknowingly seen his photography. In December 2007 alone, his photography was published in The Times, Sunday Times, and Daily Mail.
His photography has regularly been featured in Japan Airlines in-flight magazine, National Geographic Traveler, Asiaweek, Marie Claire, Geographical, Rough Guides and The Guardian.
He returned to the UK in 1998 and he is now based in Somerset. He has over twenty years professional experience as a working photographer. His photo reportage style has been brought to wedding photography and is ideal for candid shots and creating “storybook” and reportage photography of the complete wedding day.
His wedding photography can be viewed on the portfolio gallery pages.
Paul's editorial photography can be seen at www.paulquayle.co.uk where there are extensive "tearsheets" of some of his published photography.

Andrew studied photography at the Arts Institute in Bournemouth, freelancing at the Southern Daily Echo in Southampton in the evenings and at weekends to pay the bills. This led to a staff job at Gazette Newspapers based in Basingstoke where he cut his teeth and went on to manage the picture desk as Chief Photographer.

Peter has recieved many awards for his portraits and has had work published in many popular photography magazines . Now working as a freelance photographer shooting a mixture of press and weddings, the press side complimenting the wedding photography where Peter is able to react quickly and accurately to events as they unfold and capture all the joyful emotions a wedding brings.

I enjoy photographing the preparation for the day, even as much as the wedding itself. The bride’s excitement and nervous anticipation can come together to make very poignant images. I try to be as informal and unobtrusive as I can, also taking a few moments to go and shoot the details like the shoes, dress and bouquet, and to give the bride a little space during this special time.
